The Beginning of the School Year Mass

New Zealand Catholic schools celebrate Mass at the beginning of the school year.

The Beginning of the School Year Mass

A student from the school welcomes all the students and parents to a wonderful Beginning of the School Year Mass.

The school Mass begins with a song while the priest processes with the altar service up to the altar.

When the song finishes, the priest welcomes us to the Beginning of the School Year Mass with a prayer.

The Liturgy of the Word

After the welcoming we do the Penitential rite. Then a fellow student reads the first reading.

After that we sing the Alleluia, followed by the Gospel reading and the homily where the priest teaches us about the Gospel.

We have the prayers of the faithful read by four students.

The Liturgy of the Eucharist

While the offertory is taken to the altar we sing a song about the bread and the wine. The priest blesses the bread and wine for the people who receive communion so they can eat the body of Christ and drink the blood of Christ.

Now you should know about the Beginning of the School Year Mass. If you haven’t been to the Beginning of the School Year mass please go, as you will find it beneficial and enjoyable.
