At St Patrick’s we encourage healthy lunch choices which provide high nutrition and energy for children. Overly processed foods and drinks have little nutritional value and are not suitable for this purpose.
We promote litter free lunches and aim to reduce or remove waste from our lunch boxes. Having less litter benefits our planet and also teaches children to make healthy food choices. Even small children can quickly learn to select healthy foods and place these in containers instead of using cling wrap.
Brain food
Students have a quick snack mid-morning which we call ‘brain food’. Only healthy food (fruit and vegetables), milk and water may be consumed at this time.
Drinking Water
Your child may have a water bottle in the classroom so they can drink water and hydrate throughout the day. Please do not send other drinks to school.
Milk in Schools
St Patrick’s participates in the ‘Fonterra Milk for Schools’ programme.
Fonterra Farmers across the country are working together to bring healthy, nutritious milk to kids across New Zealand through Fonterra Milk for Schools. It’s free, and it’s for all Kiwi kids in any primary school that would like to take part. 70% of New Zealand primary schools now take part in Milk for Schools.
If your child would like free, fresh, cold milk each day please complete the permission slip below.
This ends at the end of this year 2020
